The New York City Employees’ Retirement System seeks to hire an Agency Attorney Level 1 who will work on a variety of tasks within the Legal Division. Responsibilities Reviewing and validating legal documents such as domestic relations orders, trusts, powers of attorney, guardianship papers, letters of administration, and letters testamentary. Communicating with NYCERS clients regarding legal documents via written correspondence and phone. Providing legal research and support to litigating attorneys, reviewing litigation documents. Assessing litigation risks and advising supervisors on actions. Researching pension administration matters. Drafting correspondence and memoranda for internal and external audiences. Responding to information requests from other NYCERS divisions. Drafting contracts and amendments in accordance with procurement rules. Reviewing End User License Agreements (EULAs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for compliance with NYC procurement policies. Qualifications Admission to the New York State Bar. At least one year of legal experience after bar admission, or six months of service as an Agency Attorney Intern. Must remain in good standing with the NY State Bar. Preferred Skills Excellent legal writing and document review skills. Knowledge of city government, pension laws, and procurement rules. Ability to adapt to change and work collaboratively. Additional Information Eligible for federal and state loan forgiveness programs. Residency in NYC is not required.
